Surgical Resection of Aggressive Angiomyxoma Manifesting as a Spinal Tumour: A Case Report

Abstract

|
Study Design: Retrospective case report Objectives: To the best of the authors¡¯ knowledge, this is the first reported case of aggressive angiomyxoma presenting as a sacral spine tumour in a 51-year-old woman.
Summary of Literature Review: Aggressive angiomyxoma is a rare myxoid neoplasm of the perineum and pelvis in women of reproductive age. Extragenital tumours are extremely rare and have previously been reported in the head and neck, abdomen, lung and limbs.
Materials and Methods: The authors reviewed the literature and described the clinical presentation and key aspects of management of this rare manifestation of aggressive angiomyxoma.
Results: This patient was managed with maximal safe resection and close surveillance.
Conclusions: Aggressive angiomyxoma may manifest as a spinal tumour.
